Human Factors Lead with Security Clearance

Description The?Advanced Solutions Group?of Leidos has a career opportunity for a talented Human Factors Lead ?in Abingdon, MD?to support a critical modernization effort of the Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS) in order to satisfy the vision of Program Executive Office (PEO) Command Control Communications - Tactical (C3T) and Project Manager Mission Command. The Human Factors Lead is responsible for leading a team of user experience designers in a dynamic sprint-based development environment, while integrating with system and software engineering technical teams to deliver functional designs that meet requirements.?The AFATDS is a multi-service, automated command, coordination, communication, and computing system that provides automated fire support and coordination to all echelons, from firing unit through theater level, at Army, Marine Corps, Naval Firing Platforms, Navy Command and Amphibious Assault Ships, Air Force Operations Centers, and Joint Command and Control Centers. AFATDS enables the automatic application of the Force Commander?s guidance in the Fires Warfighting Function to plan, execute, and deliver effects at all levels of command within the current and future force. AFATDS can automatically tailor the selection of fire support assets (field artillery, mortars, close air support, naval gunfire, attack helicopters, and offensive electronic warfare assets) based on the Commander?s guidance, thereby enabling maximum effective use of all available fire support assets across the full spectrum of conflict.?This effort is to meet the government?s objective to modernize the underlying AFATDS architecture, redesign the AFATDS front-end to a fully web- and role-based user interface, integrate common services made available through the Army?s Common Operating Environment (COE), and incorporate advanced embedded training technologies to aid in operator-initiated system instruction and refresher training.?PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: ? ??????? Organize, assign, and track design work for a small team of design engineers using iterative development processes and collaboration tools.? ??????? Apply engineering experience to perform functions such as systems requirements analysis, functional analysis, workflow analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition.? ??????? Interface with subject matter experts, system engineers, design engineers, and software developers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements and to ensure optimized human-machine interfaces.? ??????? Lead the human factors team in establishing guiding user interface principles for the system and documenting those principles in system designs and user interface style guide.? ??????? Identify and analyze technological problems or risks, performs theoretical human factors investigations, and develops and implements research and analysis plans.? ??????? Analyze design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military weapons systems, associated support systems, or management information systems.? ??????? Evaluate alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.? ??????? Lead the User Working Group involving customer subject matter experts to present progress and to obtain feedback on preliminary user interface designs.?? ??????? Lead human factors efforts associated with customer milestones including Preliminary Design Reviews, and Critical Designs Reviews? ??????? Work with control account manager(s) to report task progress ?? ??????? Work with customer human factors experts in planning for and evaluating User Juries to obtain feedback on evolving designs and requirements? ??????? Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. ? ??????? Other duties as required. Requires BS degree and 8 ? 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 ? 10 years of prior relevant experience? Experience leading teams of designers in developing software user interfaces? Experience developing software user interface requirements, user stories, test cases and / or architecture to satisfy mission objectives and integrate into a system of systems environment? Experience working with users to understand operational conditions to synthesize system and software requirements and user interfaces? Experience with Defense Intelligence Information Enterprise (DI2E) development tools, such as Jira, Confluence, Nexus, and Stash-Git/Subversion? Experience in authoring documents (CONOPS, reports, briefings, etc,) to support customer missions? Experience performing system analysis and consolidation of redundant functionality? Excellent presentation preparation, briefing skills and project management experience? Able to multi-task, self-assign work, and function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? Good verbal and written communication skills? Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)? Ability to obtain a DoD SECRET security clearance? US Citizenship is required ?PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ? Demonstrated strong performance as a technical leader working in a multi-contractor, on-site and virtual environment? Ability to convey technical designs, ideas and results to non-technical audiences and provide briefings to high-level government personnel? Experience on a computer system for weapons control? Experience with Command and Control applications? Experience with AFATDS, Army Common Operating Environment (COE) or other PM MC systems? Currently possess an active DoD SECRET security clearance? ?? Experience in usability testing and evaluation techniques a plus, such as usability testing, remote testing, and user juries ? ?? Ability to communicate requirements-focused results and summary reports??
